One of the most important parts of responsible 4x4 off roading is having the proper safety and vehicle recovery equipment on hand in case of a catastrophe. You just never know when you, or someone in your group, is going to be injured, or get stuck in the mud and muck. The following paragraphs will briefly discuss some of the different equipment you may want to consider purchasing before you and your group go on a 4x4 off roading adventure.
The most important group of items any responsible off roader should take with him on a trip is a first aid survival kit. Because the first aid kit should ideally be small, light-weight, and easily accessed, you may want to divide the items up between the different people in your off roading group. Some of the items that are most important can include scissors, heat pack, cold pack, adhesive bandages, gauze, adhesive tape, alcohol swabs, and aspirin.
In addition to these safety items, anyone who takes prescription medication should also take that with them on a 4x4 off roading trip. Calamine lotion, or other itch treating medication cream, may also be beneficial.
Whenever you go off roading, there is a chance that you may find yourself stuck at one point or another. In order to be prepared for this type of situation, there is some recovery equipment you should be sure to have with you. This equipment includes having a sufficient amount of recovery and tow straps, as well as tree chains and a jack. It is highly important to ensure you not only have a sufficient amount of straps, you should also be certain they are the correct lengths. Safety and recovery off roading equipment and supplies can be purchased at specialty stores, or at several online stores.
